Acoustic Transducer
SeaLandAire provides hydrophones and projectors that are built for special requirements. For best performance, hydrophones should be supplied with a preamplifier provided by SeaLandAire. For cost effective design, parameters such as depth requirements, Free Field Voltage Sensitivity (FFVS), beampattern requirement, and frequency response are required to be known.
Hydrophones:
SeaLandAire has extensive experience in building high quality, low cost hydrophones (click here for existing products). Frequency ranges are available up to 150 kHz and incorporate different technologies to maintain a low cost. These technologies include:
- Flexural disc
- Cylindrical
- Thickness expander
- Spherical
SeaLandAire has experience with a number of different piezoelectric materials including lead zirconate titanate (PZT), lead metaniobate, lead titanate and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)
SeaLandAire has experience with both single element omni-directional elements and line, planar or volumetric arrays that provide directionality.
Projectors:
SeaLandAire can provide acoustic projectors according to your requirements. We have experience in working with the following types of projectors:
- Flexural Disc
- Cylindrical
- Free flooded rings
Both single element or line, planar, or volumetric arrays may be used depending upon the beamwidth requirements.
Preamplifiers:
SeaLandAire fabricates preamplifiers that are adaptable for the desired frequency range. The preamplifiers are located near the hydrophone to allow for minimal cable loss and improved equivalent self noise of the hydrophone. Signal conditioning is used on the preamplifiers to optimize the hydrophones performance.
